Many of us are not blessed with the skill of being an artist. I know you won’t be seeing any of my stick men in an art museum anytime soon. Some of us may wish to be an artist of some sort but maybe don’t know how to start, or perhaps just lack the creativity to do so (I know I’m not very creative).
We, the Pixels is the place where anyone can become an artist. We, the Pixels is an experience to say the least. It can’t really be described as to what it is. Some may call it a game, others may describe it as a social media site. Each person might experience the site differently, but whatever your experience, it definitely a unique one.
Jesse Tomlinson and his team started We, the Pixels back in Decemeber of 2010. When explaining what We, the Pixels actually is, he said, “It’s a social experiment geared towards creating art.” The goal was to see if a community of 1 million people could create art if given 1 pixel to do so. Imagine if this community all collaborated together in order to make something beautiful! It would be quite a big accomplishment seeing such artwork with so many contributing artists.
We, the Pixels is currently in open Beta. One thing they need is more users. They have a small community right now, but it needs to grow. This is where you come in! Tell your friends that they can be artists to, and very easily I might add.
Images right now are started and finished in about 20 minutes. We, the Pixels actually schedule times for users to start painting. Since users can be anywhere in the world, this is a great feature to have to ensure users know when its time to start drawing. This is also a great feature so that you can invite friends ahead of time!

Users at We, the Pixels can suggest a subject that they want to be drawn. Once the subject is selected, artists from all over the world can start working on the subject. After the subject is painted, the rough spots can be fixed. All a users has to do is select the pixel that needs to be fixed, the artists vote if it should be changed or not. If the vote passes it will be changed.Just be careful though, you only got a limited amount of votes.
We, the Pixels offers a great experience that anyone can appreciate. I feel as if We, the Pixels will change the way art is made as well as offer a great way to communicate with people from around the world, all while creating something beautiful.
