About Me

Just me, in black and white.
Greetings. My name is Nate McGee. Welcome to my little world. If you have come across me via a social networking site and want to know if you should follow me further, please check out my Social Media Outlets and How I Use Them.

I have overcome some major difficulties in my life. By the age of 1, I managed to survive purely on milk. Among other things, I overcame headgear, braces, puberty, acne, and social awkwardness. Not only did I get through those difficulties but I also managed to have my liver survive college. Without overcoming these challenges, I couldn’t be where I am today. The challenge I face now is finding enough time in the day to do everything I want. I hope to overcome this one day.

Since this is an about me page, I will give you a brief overview of me. I was born at a very young age believe it or not. Life was good, except for the before-mentioned struggles. Things changed around the age of 9 when I found out I would be moving to Australia. By the age of 12, I had arrived in Mackay, Queensland where I remained until right before my senior year of high school. I liked Australia but I missed America, my family and my friends. I came back to America for my senior year of high school, which I thankfully finished. I went to college shortly thereafter and successfully completed it. I now have a spiffy piece of paper showing how awesome I am, as well as reminding me of how much debt I am in.

I wear many different hats these days. I was always a gamer growing up and I somehow got lucky enough to work in that area. I’ve been a Community Manager with Online Gaming Network for many years. I manage 6 games (8 if you count multiple worlds); hire, fire and train staff; streamline reporting, complaints, and game-play; generate ideas to provide a fresh gaming experience; bug testing and other things related to gaming. The most recent project I have been a part of is Slot Factory which is casino game found on Facebook.

I’ve created a few blogs over time, most of which have been related to specific games or clans. Doing so has given me a skill set in SEO and SMM, both of which I really enjoy doing. At the age of 13 I taught myself HTML so I would be the cool kid on the block that was able to create awesome “Click here to Enter” home pages, with amazing cursor tails, breathtaking scrolling text and exhilarating background music that couldn’t be turned off. Ah, sweet nostalgia.

Just me, eating a big turkey leg

When I first went to college, I started out as a Software Engineer. This gave rise to me learning C and C++; however, I took an entry level business class and I fell in love. I changed colleges and my degree shortly thereafter. My new degree was in Management Information Systems. I loved my degree because I was able to take my business law, corporate finance, accounting, marketing and other business classes as well as learn more languages such as Java, MySQL, HTML (again) and CSS (if you call it a language).

While I was in college I hated marketing, data analysis, and information system design. When I got out of college, I took a job as a Business Process Specialist Apprentice (slick title eh?) and 3 months later got promoted to a Data Analyst. This promotion thrust me right into the midst of data analysis. One week after my promotion, I took over an area of marketing and became one of three Data Analysts that supported Liberty University Online (LUO). It’s great to see how life just puts you in the midst of everything you hate, isn’t it? I was going to pursue an MBA but now I’m going to pursue an MBA with a specialization in Marketing.

I’m no developer, I just know enough to get by. I can read code, understand logic, and I can create some things. Currently, this is what I’m familiar with: C, C++, C#, PHP, SQL (MySQL and Oracle), VB.NET, ASP.NET, HTML and CSS. I only list these so that I can sound way smarter than I really am. I can talk the talk, and walk the walk; however, my walk is similar to someone trying to walk with 2 sprained ankles.

The word can’t isn’t in my vocabulary. I believe you can do anything you set your mind to. I never thought I could do modeling or acting; however, I actively started to pursue it and now I’m starting to break into the business a little. I started smoking around the age of 9 and I never thought I could kick the nasty habit, but I’ve been smoke free since September 22, 2011. I never thought I could start my own company, but I did. I never thought I could do a backflip, but I can now. I trust you get the idea.

Just me, trying to awkwardly act sexy

I stay motivated and actively pursue whatever it is I dream of doing. I love learning! I read articles, research topics, watch videos, talk to people and just do whatever it takes to improve myself. A day I go without learning something new, is the day that I am dead. What I write may not be entirely correct and I encourage you to make it known to me, I know I am not perfect. I will learn from you and I hope I can offer something that you can learn from as well.

Enough about all of that. I can talk about myself throughout this blog at a later date. If you are still reading, which would be surprising, here are some final fun facts that you should know about me.

  • I’m an expert at killing plants even when I’m told how to keep them alive.
  • I’m ADDHD, which is just like regular ADD, but mine is in High Definition.
  • I’m a master of three languages: English, sarcasm and Australian.
  • I’m a child that’s trapped in a young adults body.
